Lonestar Bash 2009 Coverage
October 28, 2009
Finally, over a week later I’m here to report on our Lonestar Bash trip. Due to a bad stomach flu last week I was only able to sleep and be sick, but now I’ve recovered so on to the event coverage.
Lonestar Bash 2009 was pretty epic…8-10 car tandems and lots of drivers out roasting tires. The weather was beautiful and a great time was had by all. As mentioned in a previous post, we were hauling a CA18 engine back from the event for a friend. Their entourage came over Saturday night and stayed over since we all would be leaving at 4:30 am the next morning to get to Mineral Wells at a decent time. They managed to beat our Mario Cart Wii for us while we tried to get some shuteye, so much for sleep.
Drive was uneventful and we arrived at the event around 10am. Lots of spectators. The rest of the day was spent taking some photos (over 800 actually), playing with the dog, meeting up with friends from all corners of Texas, and generally trying to take it easy. Our group left around 6pm for the 4-5hr trip back, engine and all. Definitely an excellent event in Texas drifting history!
Here are just a few faves, be sure to check out all 552 images I took from the event here
Pets and more
October 28, 2009
This weekend my mother came in to visit us, fortunately the weather was good and we were able to take Shyla out to the lake for the first time in a few weeks since I hurt my knee and got the stomach flu. We also played some pretty sweet games of tennis on the Wii and she made Ian and I some kick ass pot-pie. My father just went in for his second knee surgery this Monday and currently is recovering. Good news is he will not have to work Thanksgiving this year!
The rest is just some videos of the pets in their current status. Kei continues to be anti-social, Izzy loves food as much as always, Shyla is bonko-dog, and Piro is a strange fish who likes to lean on his glow-in-the-dark plant.
Playing truckers

Once again our truck’s services were requested to haul a CA18 for a friend back from Mineral Wells this weekend. Good thing it wasn’t an RB, no engine hoist!
Just getting dog food

Went to the pet store to pick up dog food and nail clippers and came home with a betta fish. Meet Piro, he is a pretty boy!

Houston Visit Oct 10-11th
October 16, 2009
Since we got the new doggie about a month ago my parents wanted to see her. We decided to head into Houston to visit the family and for Ian to catch the BEST electric RC fly in (Photos and video of Ian flying at night on this page: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1058301&page=16)
Shyla did well meeting my parent’s pack of dogs in Houston. She picked on the dane, Nikki, bossed around the malinois, Sil and pretty much left Abby, the golden retriever alone. Outside of the dogs intermingling we introduced the Wii to the parents and generally had a nice relaxing time.
Shyla Updates
October 16, 2009
Shyla the 1.5 year old adopted Border Collie is fitting in well. She owns me now. Shyla has a few bad habits such as jumping, nipping and pulling on the leash, but she is very smart and loves to play. Lots of potential!
Nashbro 2009
October 14, 2009
Nashbro is the mecca of the Profile Brotherhood (www.theprofilebrotherhood.com) radio controlled fly ins. Located just outside of Nashville, Tennessee in a small, friendly town of Leipers Fork, over 50 ProBros travel from all parts of the country to attend from September 24th-27th. This year we were able to make it so we packed up the dog, airplanes, sleeping bags and snacks and headed for Tennessee Wednesday evening, September 23.
We drove through the night listening to XM radio or Pandora on our phones and trading off sleeping and driving. It rained most of the way, but that was no trouble for the F250 and the trip went smoothly. We arrived at the field around 10am Thursday morning and found our pit spot.
I happened to be fighting off a nasty cold so the first day was spent unpacking the truck, sneezing, sniffling, tending to the dog, watching people fly, begging people for cold meds, and gathering food from the local store. Friday was much better, I had mostly gotten rid of the cold and gotten a full night’s sleep in the back of the truck. Saturday was the busiest day for flying, lots of midairs and fun were had. I even got to drive Norm’s Yamaha Raptor 660 which I immediately fell in love with. So fun! Saturday night was mostly uneventful compared to other Nashbros, but the rain had stopped and the cold front came though so it was nice and cool. We were able use our sleeping bags properly for the first time that night while the dog snuggled between us or in her corner of the truck bed. Sunday we got up and packed and were on the road by 10am, although we had to use some driffin skills to get out of the muddy pasture. We arrived home in Austin 16hrs later. What a fun event!!

Ding Dong the Bitch is Gone!
October 14, 2009
Ahh, finally the Bitch (mentioned in previous posts, also known as the “Slammed Bitch”) found a new loving home. Put it through paint and off she went to a friend of our’s mother. It will become a track car. As mentioned in a previous post, the engine took a dump on us right when we were about to sell it. The new owners had it looked at and it turns out it broke, yes BROKE the number one piston rod. Wow.
New Theme
October 12, 2009
Added a new theme to spruce up the blog. Went through some revisions and I will try to keep the blog more up to date, I’ve been so busy recently that I haven’t had time for it. More updates coming soon!
