Whippin’ Ass

Had to do a project for a class in After Effects and decided it would be more fun to include some music and a video. Edited in some drifting, offroad jumps, helicopter, and RC footage from the hundreds of hours I’ve gotten over the years…its been a lot of fun! Edited to the tune of the Ray’s ‘Whipass’, remixed by Goose…my theme song : )

More aerial video

Went out to the local outlaw RC field today and taped the GoPro HD to Ian’s e-sabre 40 for a test flight. Came out nice for Ian doing a mainly aerobatic flight. Great quality from the camera, super wide angle so it got a ton of the wing in the frame, but catches a lot of whats around it too.

Shop, new car(s), spraying dirt, flying!

Ugh, the shop is a mess. Went over there earlier this week to do brake jobs on Ian’s father’s Tacoma and a friend of mine, Ian B’s, Scion xA. Haven’t been to the shop to work in months and the place is a wreck. In the process of doing the xA’s brakes Ian (my Ian) had to fab two tools, one required some grinding to take off the wheels and one required welding to get the wheels back on. Brake swap itself went fine!

And a big congratulations to Ian for buying a new (used) car! He recently graduated from college and was in need of a new reliable car. After a full day of searching and driving cars we decided on a silver 2005 Honda Accord 4d, automatic, V6, black leather. Oh so comfy!

And because Ian no longer needed his S14 I ended up with it through a previous deal on my RB25. yay, now I have a car too!

I was able to get out today and clean my quad for the first time since my surgery. Weather was nice and sunny so I pressure washed off all the sand and grime, took me over an hour to scour it clean. Still have more to do, but that will happen another day.

Went out the the outlaw flying field today and played around with the HD GoPro’s settings a bit. Got some shots of Shyla in there too. Love it!

Halloween-ish

Halloween was a non-event this year. The beautiful afternoon was spent out at the local “outlaw” RC flying field with Shyla, Ian, Ian’s father, and the guys. After that Ian, his father, and I headed to the UT racquetball courts for an intense game of racquetball. Came home for the night and watched SyFy’s new series, Stargate Universe. Ran out of time to carve a pumpkin before midnight on Halloween, so I managed to carve my pumpkin today on November 1st. Mostly did it for the seeds!

Houston Visit Oct 10-11th

Since we got the new doggie about a month ago my parents wanted to see her. We decided to head into Houston to visit the family and for Ian to catch the BEST electric RC fly in (Photos and video of Ian flying at night on this page: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1058301&page=16)

Shyla did well meeting my parent’s pack of dogs in Houston. She picked on the dane, Nikki, bossed around the malinois, Sil and pretty much left Abby, the golden retriever alone. Outside of the dogs intermingling we introduced the Wii to the parents and generally had a nice relaxing time.

Nashbro 2009

Nashbro is the mecca of the Profile Brotherhood (www.theprofilebrotherhood.com) radio controlled fly ins. Located just outside of Nashville, Tennessee in a small, friendly town of Leipers Fork, over 50 ProBros travel from all parts of the country to attend from September 24th-27th. This year we were able to make it so we packed up the dog, airplanes, sleeping bags and snacks and headed for Tennessee Wednesday evening, September 23.

We drove through the night listening to XM radio or Pandora on our phones and trading off sleeping and driving. It rained most of the way, but that was no trouble for the F250 and the trip went smoothly. We arrived at the field around 10am Thursday morning and found our pit spot.

I happened to be fighting off a nasty cold so the first day was spent unpacking the truck, sneezing, sniffling, tending to the dog, watching people fly, begging people for cold meds, and gathering food from the local store. Friday was much better, I had mostly gotten rid of the cold and gotten a full night’s sleep in the back of the truck. Saturday was the busiest day for flying, lots of midairs and fun were had. I even got to drive Norm’s Yamaha Raptor 660 which I immediately fell in love with. So fun! Saturday night was mostly uneventful compared to other Nashbros, but the rain had stopped and the cold front came though so it was nice and cool. We were able use our sleeping bags properly for the first time that night while the dog snuggled between us or in her corner of the truck bed. Sunday we got up and packed and were on the road by 10am, although we had to use some driffin skills to get out of the muddy pasture. We arrived home in Austin 16hrs later. What a fun event!!
